Dedicated to the Community
Providence Health & Services works in partnership with community organizations to reach out to those in need. Through our collaborative efforts, we improve access to health care and provide health education resources in our communities through the Providence Center for Community Health Improvement.
Providence Health & Services in California is celebrating unprecedented growth, recognition for top quality health care, a vibrant employee culture where new ideas are encouraged, and a drive to help the underprivileged. These achievements all support the cornerstone of our mission, to serve.
Our outreach programs inspire and support a healthy community. This past year, we provided more than $91 million in community benefit programs to our neighbors, reaching out to nearly 140,000 people. From newborns to the elderly, our communities are served by Providence programs that promote good health for the body, mind and spirit.
Providence Health & Services provides education and support services for our patients, their family and friends by offering classes to help patients become more informed about their illness or condition and to promote a healthy lifestyle. We provide support groups where patients and their support community can share their feelings and concerns and learn from others in similar situations.
Providence gives back to our communities by providing a variety of health care programs. We tailor our programs to respond to regional, area and neighborhood needs.
Providence gives back to our communities by providing a variety of health care programs. We tailor our programs to respond to regional, area and neighborhood needs. Our contributions include:
- Financial assistance for the uninsured and others who cannot pay for the cost of their care
- Subsidies to make up the difference between the cost of care and what is paid by state and federal government - does not include Medicare Services that are offered because of a need in the community including our primary care safety net clinics and behavioral health programs
- Subsidies for medical residency programs, nursing and other education, and medical research
- Services to our communities such as wellness and prevention education, health screenings, immunizations and support groups, Community-building grants, cash gifts, and in-kind donations such as medical supplies, child safety seats and food
Folded into the Providence philosophy is an evolving move to help protect the planet by incorporating "green" initiatives, including environmentally friendly construction, and employee recycling. Together, quality care, dedicated employees, compassion for our neighbors, and respect for the environment spell healthier communities and a healthier future.
