Other Services
At Providence Marianwood
Therapy Services
We offer Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy to all residents and patients. Physical Therapy is also offered on an outpatient basis.
Respite Care
Being a full-time caregiver can be physically and mentally exhausting - particularly when the individual that you're caring for is someone you love. Those providing constant care for a loved one need time away from their duties to take care of their own needs. Respite allows you this time by providing quality care while you are away, allowing you time to relax and come back to your caregiver role revitalized and better able to care for your loved one. Respite care can be arranged for as few as three or as many as 30 days.
Hospice/End of Life Comfort Care
Our program provides personalized support to the terminally ill and their families including pain control, social, emotional and spiritual support. End of life comfort care is provided with respect for the individual and their choices and preferences.
The services of a therapeutic harpist (Thanatologist) are available on request.
Physician Services
A full complement of clinical services rounds out the programs made available at Providence Marianwood. Our Board-Certified Medical Director sees patients weekly and works closely with the patient or resident's primary care physician to ensure continuity of care. Additionally a Board-Certified psychiatrist makes weekly rounds. A podiatrist, dentist and ophthalmologist routinely assess long-term care residents' needs and our social workers host support groups for patients' family members learning to cope with change.
Pastoral Care
In keeping with the Mission of Providence to “reveal God’s love for all, especially the poor and vulnerable, through our compassionate service” and our holistic approach to healthcare, caring for the whole person - body, soul, and spirit - Providence Marianwood has a fulltime Board Certified Chaplain on staff providing spiritual, religious, and personal counseling and guidance to residents, patients, family members, and facility staff.
The Chaplain coordinates religious services, programs, and activities including those provided by a variety of church denominations and supportive organizations. The Chaplain provides emotional and spiritual support while honoring personal and cultural beliefs, religious background, and spiritual practices and will help facilitate visits by clergy of any faith tradition upon request.
Pastoral Care has expanded into cyberspace as the Chaplain makes available Skype Video Conferences, connecting residents visually and audibly with families in distant locations.
A growing Prayer Shawl Ministry has become a tangible, comforting, and blessed expression of the love of God and the prayers of God’s people to residents, patients, family members and staff.
Within a few days after a death at Marianwood, a brief Candlelight Remembrance is held either on the household or in the chapel at shift change time (2:30pm). This is a time for the staff and any family or friends who wish to participate to remember and celebrate the life of the loved one for whom we have cared.
Ethics Committee
An interdisciplinary ethics committee that includes clinical practitioners from the broader community provides guidance directing care and maintaining the quality of our services.
