About the Foundation
Since 1982, The Foundation has provided millions of dollars in financial support for residents, services and programs at The Mount. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation (Tax I.D. # 91-1188119) established exclusively as an "operating foundation"—to support and carry out The Mount’s charitable programs.
In 2010, the Foundation provided more than $800,000 in supplemental funds for skilled nursing residents. This support helps to bridge the gap between the actual cost of care and the amount of provider reimbursement paid by Medicaid. That gap is projected to climb to $4.4 million in 2011 due to shrinking reimbursement rates and increased need. Additionally, the Foundation has allowed The Mount to maintain its philosophy of helping assisted living apartment residents, adult day program participants and others continue to be part of our community even after individual or family resources run out. Thanks to the generous contributions of our donors, the Foundation has supported residents in need for over 25 years.
The Foundation’s operations are guided by a 21-member Board of Directors. Members of the Board include business and community leaders, citizen volunteers and spiritual and administrative leaders from the Sisters of Providence and Providence Mount St. Vincent.
