Birthing Center at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center
At Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, we take a family-centered approach to obstetrical (OB) care. We will provide the best possible OB care for both you and your baby throughout your pregnancy and delivery. Whether this is your first or fifth baby, pregnancy is often a time full of questions and concerns. Providence St. Joseph Medical Center offers the service of three OB/GYN doctors who make it possible to cover all of your women’s healthcare needs.
Whether your pregnancy is proceeding normally or considered “high risk,” we provide all obstetric services under one roof, making appointments and testing more convenient.
Staff and physicians monitor your baby using centralized fetal monitoring systems so even when they are not in the same room, your baby is always being “watched.” The diagnostic imaging department at St. Joe’s is available to help identify potential obstetrical, medical or fetal problems at an early point in the pregnancy. A 3D ultrasound is available to enhance the excitement of seeing your baby as it grows.
The Birthing Center at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center offers many amenities to make your birthing experience comfortable and peaceful. The homelike and charming patient rooms are furnished with wood floors, 32” flat-screen TV’s, private showers, soft, cozy bedding and a daybed for spouse and family. If you choose, spacious maternity suites allow friends and families to share in the birthing process; alternatively, a pleasant waiting room with a 42” flat screen TV, DVD player and microwave is available to family and friends while they anticipate the birth. Use our private Jacuzzi room for relaxation before and after birth. If you choose to have an epidural for pain relief during labor, a Certified Nurse Anesthetist is available 24 hours a day. To help you celebrate the birth of your child, St. Joe's provides a complimentary steak dinner for you and your loved one the night after delivery.
A certified lactation consultant and registered dietitian are on staff to assist with advice, support and information about breast feeding and nutrition. We offer free childbirth education classes to help families with every stage of childbirth including preparation, breathing techniques, postpartum care, pain management and ability to connect with other parents-to-be.
