Archives Collections: Corporations and Institutions
The Archives holds collections of records, historical information and visual resources relating to institutions and corporate entities in the western U.S. that the Sisters of Providence have founded or sponsored. They focus on health care, education, social services, and housing.
Each corporate or institutional collection, also called record group, is further divided into record series. Examples of record series are chronicles, correspondence, minutes, reports, school transcripts, early patient records, financial records, oral histories, newsletters, scrapbooks and memorabilia. Photograph and artifact collections further enhance documentation of these entities through visual media and material objects.
Listed below are major collections relating to corporate entities as well as institutions and ministries. Institutions are organized by the state and then the city in which they are located. Click on links for up-to-date finding aids to records or photographs. Collections with marked with an asterisk (*) have only a preliminary inventory. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of all record groups or all Providence entities. For those not listed, please contact us.
