Archival and Historical Collections
Institutional and corporate records, manuscripts and personal papers, photographs, audiovisual materials, and artifacts document the Providence ministries. Collections date from 1856 to the present and encompass the western United States, as well as the mission in El Salvador. Some of the major collections include
With a total volume of approximately 5,000 cubic feet, the collections are further divided into record groups and record series. Examples of record series are chronicles, correspondence, minutes, reports, school transcripts, early patient records, financial records, oral histories, newsletters, scrapbooks and memorabilia.
The collections are a unique and valuable resource for those studying Pacific Northwest history, Catholic religious life, women’s studies, genealogy, and the development of health care, education and social services.
