What browser settings are required?
A number of Java and ActiveX components may need to be installed into your browser from time to time as you use Providence online clinical results. To ensure that those components load properly, it is recommended that you set up your browser to allow this to occur automatically. The safest way to do this is to add OneHealthPort.com and Providence.org to Trusted Sites in the browser security settings, and to set the security level for the trusted sites zone to Low.
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click the Trusted Sites icon.
  5. Click the Sites... button.
  6. Uncheck the checkbox Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.
  7. Type *.providence.org in the Add this website to the zone entry box and click the Add button.
  8. Type *.onehealthport.com in the Add this website to the zone entry box and click the Add button.
  9. Click the Close button.
  10. Click the Custom level... button.
  11. Select Low from the Reset to drop-down menu and click the Reset button.
  12. Click the Yes button to confirm the change.
  13. Under Settings find Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting and set to Enable.
  14. Click the OK button.
  15. Click the OK button.

In addition, if you are using a pop-up blocker, make sure you allow pop-ups for all Providence.org sites.

Can Providence help me set up my computer to access online clinical results?

Once you have set up your computer to access the Internet, Providence can help you access ProvCare. Unfortunately, Providence cannot advise you as to what computer to buy or how to get it set up on the Internet. Additionally, it is not legal for Providence to pay a third-party computer specialist to help you. However, your Clinical Support Specialist or Medical Staff Liaison may be able to provide you with the names of some local IT resources. Before you buy a computer, you might wish to refer to the FAQ entry What computer specifications are required?

What is the Browser Checker?
The Browser Checker program verifies that your computer, operating system, and browser are supported and are set up to use OneHealthPort and ProvCare. Each time you log into ProvCare, the Browser Checker runs. The elements verified by the Browser Checker are:

  • you are using a supported PC operating system
  • you are using a supported browser
  • the software to connect to the Providence network is installed
  • the software to control browser windows is installed
  • the software to display radiological images (iSite) is installed (separate versions for Olympia/Centralia and Everett)
If all of the components are installed and configured appropriately, you will be logged directly into ProvCare. If any are missing, you will see a warning page and will be given the opportunity to install any missing components.
