Where We Serve

The Sisters of Providence opened the first hospital in Walla Walla, Washington in 1880, with seven patients. At the time, the Walla Walla Statesman newspaper noted that at the time the sisters had “hardly a dollar of their own to purchase the first brick.” Today, Providence St. Mary Medical Center is the fourth largest employer in Walla Walla County with more than 900 employees. It provides high quality medical services to the people of southeast Washington and northeast Oregon.
