Activities
Each day, each of the six groups has their own schedule of activities.
We typically start the day with motor activities before circle time.
The groups then split off into activities that include the following:
• swimming
• arts and crafts
• sensory play
• music and singing
• story telling and puppets
• nature activities
• dance/movement
• support for motor and communication development
• anything else that is fun!
Staff
Our staff consists of:
- Educator
- Activities Specialist
- Speech Language Pathologist
- Occupational and Physical Therapists
- Family Resource Coordinator.
We also hire and train Unit Leaders who lead group activities.
Each camper is assigned (by age) to a group of five other campers and two Unit Leaders. Depending on the children in any given session, the other campers in a child’s group may include other children with special needs or typically developing siblings. In addition to the two Unit Leaders, we use volunteers to assist each group and to provide that special “buddy” experience.
Volunteer
At Camp Prov, volunteers ages 14 and older help special needs children with swimming, art projects, reading, preparing food, singing and fun. If you'd like to volunteer, call Providence Regional Volunteer Services at 425-261-4580.
2011 Fees
The full cost of providing this camp experience is approximately $450 per child. But thanks to the generous support of the Providence General Children’s Association, the actual fee for each camper is $100 ($20 of which is due at registration). Financial assistance is available for those who can show a need. A financial assistance application can be requested by checking the appropriate box at the bottom of the registration form.
