The dedicated western Washington surgical team has returned from their week-long journey with inspiring stories to tell.
Approximately 65 surgeries were performed including hysterectomies, hernia repairs and gallbladder removals. In addition, the team did some biopsy of potentially cancerous tissue.
Providing surgical relief to Guatemala’s rural residents impacted by extreme poverty, malnutrition and poor sanitation is no easy feat. Volunteers have had life-changing experiences on this trip, and will bring this unique knowledge and perspective back home with them.
Here is a wrap-up of stories from their trip, April 27-May 4, with the most recent at the top. You'll also find amazing photography on Facebook.
