In March 2000, Providence Health System, in partnership with the Catholic Medical Mission Board and The Seton Institute, established and began sharing the cost of operating an international missions warehouse. This entity is also known as Catholic Partnership for International Health Missions.
Located in Lacey, Washington, the warehouse accepts donations of medical supplies and equipment from health care facilities located across the country, as well as from manufacturers and distributors, with the ultimate goal of delivery to hospitals and health care facilities in economically developing countries. Donations are shipped to organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to the poor. Care is taken to send only donations that are needed and are usable by the recipient organizations.
In May 2002, the Mission Warehouse received the American Red Cross "Real Hero" Award in recognition of its meaningful work.
